‘LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON’: MICHAEL ANNETT TO ‘SCORE LAPS’ FOR
SPRINT CAR MUSEUM IN OCT. 14 ASA LMS ‘250’ AT IOWA SPEEDWAY
by: Thomas J Schmeh [tschmeh@sprintcarhof.com]
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (September 23, 2006) - Following in the footsteps of his father
Harrold Annett, who owned the TMC Transportation sprint car for years and served
on the founding board of directors of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame &
Museum in Knoxville, Michael Annett will be an active fundraiser for the
non-profit museum foundation on Saturday, October 14, during the ASA Late Model
Series 250-lapper at the nearby Iowa Speedway in Newton. Fans across the country
will have the opportunity to support the museum by donating up to one dollar for
every lap Michael completes in the ASA LMS event aboard his TMC-sponsored number
12 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Pledges will be accepted by calling Tom Schmeh at the
museum toll-free at 1-800-874-4488.
Annett, who is currently seventh in the ASA LMS Northern Division point
standings, has agreed to be part of the National Sprint Car Museum’s SCORE LAPS
program, whereby fans can pledge monetary support to the museum based upon a
driver’s on-track success. Michael, who finished second in Northern Division
races at both Smithton, Pennsylvania, and Columbus, Wisconsin, this summer, will
also show his support by adorning his Rising Star Driver Development car with
museum decals for Iowa Speedway’s 250-lap Challenge Touring Series season
championship. Additionally, Benson International, Allstate Peterbilt Group,
Pilot Travel Centers and Northland Motor Oil and Lubricants support Annett in
his pavement stock car racing career.
The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum is located on Iowa Highway 14,
just 26 miles south of the Iowa Speedway in Newton. The non-profit museum opened
in late 1991 and is closed on just four holidays each year (New Year’s Day,
Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day). Admission is only three
dollars per adult, two dollars per student or senior citizen, with free
admission for pre-school children and annual supporting museum foundation
members.
