JASON JOHNSON NAMED "MR. SPRINT CAR" BY CLINCHING COX DESIGN
SOUTHERN IOWA SPRINTWEEK POINT TITLE ON NIGHT NINE OF TEN
KNOXVILLE, IA (August 11, 2006) - Jason Johnson of Eunice, Louisiana, has
clinched the Cox Design Southern Iowa SprintWeek championship and the "Mr.
Sprint Car" title for 2006 with his sixth place finish in tonight's Factory
Value Parts World Challenge. Johnson has 261 points and is locked into Saturday
night's SuperClean Knoxville Nationals A-Main, thus mathematically eliminating
any other driver from winning the ten-day 'Iron Man' point championship. Johnson
also won Thursday night's Knoxville Nationals preliminary show, was runner-up in
Sunday's Brodix 360 Tournament of Champions, and was eighth in last Saturday's
Knoxville 360 Nationals.
Currently second and third in points are Brian Brown of Missouri with 217 points
and defending "Mr. Sprint Car" titlist Billy Alley with 216 points,
respectively. This year's Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa
SprintWeek championship will pay $2,500, $1,000, and $500 to the top three
drivers in points, respectively. Night number ten is Saturday with the 46th
annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals, presented by the Midwest Ford Dealers.
