MUSEUM SEEKING PHOTOS FOR “SALUTE TO THE SHOOTERS”
BY: Thomas J Schmeh
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (Feb. 2, 2007) - The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum
is currently arranging an exhibition entitled “Salute to the Shooters”, which
will honor sprint car racing photographers, amateur and professional.
Twenty-five photos will be selected, matted and framed for the three-month
exhibition, which will begin in early April, in the non-profit museum in
Knoxville. The exhibition marks the second time in the 15-year history of the
museum that photographers will have a special presentation of their work on
display in the main hall, which is open seven days a week, year-round. Amongst
those 'shooters' that have been honored by induction into the National Sprint
Car Hall of Fame are Bruce Craig, Armin Krueger, John Mahoney, Ted Wilson and
soon-to-be-honored Ken Coles.
Photographers that have taken a unique and favorite photograph involving ‘big
car’, sprint car or super-modified racing and would like to submit it for
consideration are urged to send it to Tom Schmeh, National Sprint Car Hall of
Fame & Museum, One Sprint Capital Place, P.O. Box 542, Knoxville, Iowa 50138.
The photo will become property of the museum and will never be used for
commercial gain unless specific approval is given for such, nor will it ever be
used without proper photo credit given. Only one photographic entry per
photographer will be considered. It should be accompanied by name of
photographer, identification of subject material, and date and location that the
photo was taken.
Those seeking further information on the “Salute to the Shooters” exhibition are
urged to contact museum executive director Tom Schmeh at 641-842-6176.
