KNOXVILLE TO HOST “WEEKEND OF WHEELS”
ON HISTORIC DOWNTOWN SQUARE
by: Tom Schmeh
KNOXVILLE, IA (March 6, 2007) - For the first time ever, the Knoxville Chamber
of Commerce and the Knoxville Raceway are partnering on a “Weekend of Wheels”
car and motorcycle show on the historic downtown square on Saturday, April 21.
The free-to-the-public show will feature street rods, custom cars, motorcycles,
ATV’s, go-karts, stock cars, and sprint cars and stars. The show, 12 Noon until
4 p.m., is timed to coincide with the half-mile sprint car track’s 54th annual
season opener that evening.
According to chamber volunteer Bob Colbert, “We are very excited to be
establishing a new tradition in the city of Knoxville. Besides the cars and
drivers, we will be hosting live entertainment and food vendors on the downtown
square. We really appreciate the efforts of Brian Stickel at Knoxville Raceway
and Dan Ebright at English Creek Speedway in helping us promote this
season-opening event. Weather-permitting, we expect the square to be full of a
large variety of two- and four-wheeled vehicles.”
Those seeking more information on the inaugural “Weekend of Wheels” are urged to
call Teresa Rowley at 641-828-7555. The rain date for this event is Saturday,
May 5.
