KNOXVILLE BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT RACEWAY WITH
FIRST-EVER “WEEKEND OF WHEELS” ON SATURDAY, APRIL 21
by: Thomas J Schmeh
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (April 10, 2007) - The Knoxville business community will support
its legendary dirt track with a first-ever “Weekend of Wheels” car and
motorcycle show on the historic downtown square on Saturday, April 21. The
free-to-the-public show will feature street rods, custom cars, motorcycles,
ATV’s, go-karts, stock cars, and sprint cars and stars. The show, 12 Noon until
4 p.m., is timed to coincide with the half-mile sprint car track’s 54th annual
season opener later that evening.
According to chamber staff member Teresa Rowley, “This is a great way for the
entire Knoxville business community to salute the Knoxville Raceway. Business
owners from around town, not just the downtown square, will be donating prizes
to be given away to show participants and the general public. Obviously we are
very proud of what the Marion County Fairboard and the Knoxville Raceway staff
have done over the years to make the half-mile dirt track the finest in the
world. We will be hosting live entertainment, food and equipment vendors on the
downtown square, and the mobile motorcycle dyno from the Radical Cycle Company
of Des Moines. Weather-permitting, we expect the square to be full of a large
variety of two- and four-wheeled vehicles, including several Knoxville winged
sprint cars.”
Those seeking more information on the inaugural “Weekend of Wheels” are urged to
call Teresa Rowley at 641-828-7555. The rain date for this event is Saturday,
May 5.
