2007 OHSWEKEN & EDMONTON WORLD OF OUTLAWS SHOWS TO BE 2008
FACTORY VALUE PARTS WORLD CHALLENGE QUALIFIERS
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (July 23) - This Wednesday’s Six Nations Showdown, presented by
Arrow Express, at the Ohsweken (Ontario, Canada) Speedway and the August 17-18
Oil City Cup, presented by Boston Pizza, at the Castrol Raceway in Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada, will both be international qualifiers for the 2008 Factory
Value Parts World Challenge at Knoxville Raceway. The two World of Outlaws (WoO)
410-cubic-inch sprint car shows will allow international (non-U.S.A.) sprint car
drivers the opportunity to qualify for the 2008 invitational which will be held
on Friday, August 8, during next year’s SuperClean Knoxville Nationals.
In addition, the January 26-27, 2008, Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic (GASC) at
the Premier Speedway at the Sungold Stadium in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia,
will also be a 2008 Factory Value Parts World Challenge. According to Knoxville
director of racing Ralph Capitani, “What is interesting is that both World
Challenge qualifiers at Ohsweken and Edmonton in years past have been
360-cubic-inch shows, while Warrnambool’s GASC has always been a ‘372’ show. So,
for 2008, we’re showing our commitment to the international sprint car racing
community and the ‘410’ division by making all ’08 World Challenge qualifiers be
‘410’ events. We will also have two ‘410’ qualifiers in New Zealand, one on the
North Island and one on the South Island, and those dates will be announced
later. American drivers will again be able to qualify for the ’08 Factory Value
Parts World Challenge at any one of the three overseas qualifiers in Australia
and New Zealand.”
