DICK JORDAN OF THE UNITED STATES AUTO CLUB (USAC) NAMED 2007 RECIPIENT OF “OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE SPORT AWARD” BY NORTH AMERICAN SPRINT CAR POLL

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (December 10, 2007) - Dick Jordan, vice-president of News and Communications for the United States Auto Club (USAC), has been named the recipient of the 2007 “Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award” by all three voting panels of the North American Sprint Car Poll. According to poll founder and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum executive director Tom Schmeh, “The poll’s Outstanding Contribution Award is the museum foundation’s highest honor for current achievers in the sport, as it is voted on by builders, manufacturers, media members, promoters, and sanctioning officials from the 360-, 410-cubic-inch, and non-winged sprint car divisions. It speaks to the level of respect that people in our entire industry have for Dick in that he led the final balloting amongst members on the winged 410-c.i. sprint car poll voting panel, as well as from those on the non-winged poll panel.”

Based in Speedway, Indiana, at the USAC headquarters, Dick also has the title of ‘unofficial racing historian of USAC’. He joined USAC in 1968 as a statistician and has been a loyal USAC employee for almost 40 years. A native of Indianapolis, he has been involved in many facets of the sport, serving as chief scorer for several USAC series for many years. He has been responsible for USAC publications and media activity for three decades.
