Tony Stewart Registered for Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville
Nationals
BY: Brian StickelKNOXVILLE, Ia (Feb 25) – Tony Stewart will again be in
Knoxville, Iowa late this September to compete in the 5th Annual Lucas Oil
Late Model Knoxville Nationals September 25-27, 2008 will make Stewarts 3rd
appearance at the event.
In 2006 Stewart took second place in the national event just behind the 3S
of Brian Shirley. When Stewart pulled into the pits after the finish
everyone was surprised to see he had a flat tire.
In 2007 the #20 was scheduled to race but decided to focus on the Sprint Cup
event in Kansas City that same weekend. Stewart felt he owed it to his Joe
Gibbs Team to remain focused and healthy as he was sitting second in points
when the chase began.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, now in the 5th year, invites
66 of the top Late Model Drivers in the Nation to compete in the three day
event. Featuring a full program each night of racing, drivers will qualify
on Thursday and may race again on Friday to improve their standings for the
main show on Saturday, September 27th. The total purse for the three day
event is $246,410 with the winner taking home $40,000 Saturday night.
