‘MIDGE’ MILLER OF URC ADDS NAME TO KNOXVILLE MASTERS CLASSIC ENTRY LIST KNOXVILLE, IOWA (Mar 13) - Carl “Midge” Miller of Willingboro, New Jersey, is the latest veteran sprint car driver to officially file an entry for the sixteenth annual Knoxville Masters Classic to be run on Friday, May 30, at Knoxville Raceway. Miller, a technical official for the United Racing Company (URC), has competed in five of the last eight Classics, with a fifth-place finish in 2001 being his best effort to date in the winged 360 c.i. sprint car event which is only open to drivers age fifty and over. Johnny Parsons, Jr., son of 2008 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Johnnie Parsons, Sr., is seeking a ride in this year’s Knoxville Masters Classic. According to Knoxville’s director of racing Ralph Capitani, “This year’s National Sprint Car Hall of Fame induction weekend, May 30-31, will definitely have a URC flavor with inductees Glenn Fitzcharles and Kramer Williamson, and now the return of Master Midge Miller. Midge and Patty Miller are great ambassadors for the sport of sprint car racing, and we’re delighted that they’ll be towing back to Knoxville this year. Their number 8 car is usually one of the best looking sprinters in our pits on Masters weekend.” Midge will wheel Patty’s Joe’s Signs-sponsored, Jereco-powered Shaw chassis in the Classic. Midge Miller joins previous entrants Bobby Becker, Jr., and Judi Bates. Indy 500 veteran Parsons, who finished tenth in 2000 in his Masters Classic debut, is seeking a quality ride for this year’s Knoxville Masters Classic. Entry forms for the Knoxville Masters Classic can be found on www.knoxvilleraceway.com under the ‘Entry Forms’ tab. Knoxville Raceway will host an open track practice for the Masters Classic competitors on Thursday, May 29, from 7 until 9 p.m. The Knoxville Masters Classic & 305 Shootout will take place on Friday, May 30, starting at 6:45 p.m. The Carquest Night of 360- and 410-cubic-inch sprinters will conclude the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame induction weekend of racing on Saturday, May 31, also starting at 6:45 p.m. For information on the Knoxville Masters Classic & 305 Shootout on Friday, May 30, and the Carquest Night of winged 360- and 410 c.i. sprint car racing on Saturday, May 31, at the Knoxville Raceway, individuals are urged to visit the track’s web site at www.knoxvilleraceway.com.
