10 AUSTRALIANS ELIGIBLE FOR KNOXVILLE’S 2008 BRODIX
TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, LED BY BARRAND & LITTLE

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (May 3) - At the completion of both the four-race SRA Brodix Sprintcar Series and the nine-race STS/SAS Sprintcar Series in Australia, a total of ten Aussies are now eligible to compete in the $5,000-to-win Brodix Tournament of Champions at the Knoxville Raceway on Sunday, August 3. The champions of the two winged 360-cubic-inch sprint car sanctions are Ricky Barrand (Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria) and Troy Little (Sprintcar Thunder Series/Sprintcar All Stars), respectively.

The one-day international invitational for the ‘best of the best’ in 360 sprint car racing utilizes one common set of technical rules, including use of the ASCS Brodix spec head, and will be celebrating it’s tenth edition in 2008. According to Knoxville’s director of racing Ralph Capitani, “We truly appreciate the support from David Mills of Sungold Stadium, Ian Vale of SRA, Ray Solomon of STS, and Mandy Searle of SAS. We are very pleased that ‘360’ racing is growing in Australia and that the premier series organizers Down Under see the value in helping their top drivers participate internationally.”

Eligible to represent the SRA Brodix Sprintcar Series are champion Ricky Barrand, Tony Moule, Stephen Bell and Phil Lock, respectively. The SRA series competed at Hamilton, Simpson, and Warrnambool in Victoria, and at Mount Gambier in South Australia.

Eligible to represent the STS/SAS Sprintcar Series are champion Troy Little, Darren Hickman, Chris Solomon, Tony Moule, Paul Solomon, Gavin Taylor and Frank Ramsdale, respectively. The STS/SAS series competed at Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat, Wangaratta and Mildura in Victoria.

Those ten eligible drivers are now invited to enter the Brodix Tournament of Champions (ToC), which follows the three-day Arnold Motor Supply Knoxville 360 Nationals presented by Vermeer Manufacturing, July 31-August 1-2. Of the ten drivers, only Troy Little of New South Wales has sprint car racing experience at Knoxville Raceway and he is expected to compete in the Brodix-sponsored invitational this year. Tony Moule qualified through both series and will need to choose one affiliation, if he officially enters the Brodix ToC at Knoxville. To date, the top finishing Aussies in the Brodix ToC are Brett Milburn (30th in 2005), Garry Chippindall (17th in 2006), and Lauren Densley (22nd in 2007).
