AFTER NIGHT THREE, BROOKE TATNELL LEADS COX DESIGN IOWA SPEEDWEEK POINTS

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 2, 2008) - Following his winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car feature win on Saturday night, and his fourth place finish in the Knoxville 360 Nationals, Australian Brooke Tatnell has taken the lead in the Cox Design Iowa Speedweek point standings. Accumulated over ten consecutive nights of sprint car racing between the Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa, points are awarded towards the coveted title of “Mr. Sprint Car”, with the champion earning $3,000 for his efforts. Wayne Johnson, winner of the ASCS-sanctioned Knoxville 360 Nationals, is second in the standings, just one point behind Tatnell, after night number three.

The unofficial top ten in the Cox Design Iowa Speedweek points are as follows: 1., Brooke Tatnell, 144 points; 2., Wayne Johnson, 143 points; 3., Billy Alley, 141 points; 4., Tyler Walker, 140 points; 5., Brian Brown, 127 points; 6., Bronson Maeschen, 109 points; 7., Jesse Hockett, 100 points; 8., Jonathan Allard, 94 points; 9., Travis Rilat, 93 points; 10., Justin Henderson, 92 points.

The Cox Design & Metal Fabrication-sponsored point chase continues on Sunday, August 3, with the Brodix 360 Tournament of Champions invitational sprint car race at Knoxville Raceway. Past “Mr. Sprint Car” titlists include Ricky Logan (2002) of Arkansas, Shane Stewart (2003, ’04) of Oklahoma, Billy Alley (2005) of Nebraska, Jason Johnson (2006) of Louisiana, and Wayne Johnson (2007) of Oklahoma.
