National Sprint Car Museum Staff Prepares for 23rd Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals KNOXVILLE, IA (Dec 31) – Staff members at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum are busy preparing for their annual trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the 23rd Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, presented by General Tire. Race fans may visit the museum display booth, located in the trade show area of the Quik Trip Center at the Expo Square, on Monday, January 12, thru Saturday, January 17, 2009. The annual museum-benefit auction will take place on Thursday, January 15, at 12 Noon in the main grandstand area, and it is again free and open to the general public. Museum staff members will be on hand to answer questions and convey information about the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum, including information about the membership program, the museum store, the recent addition of the Library & Research Center, and construction plans for the Pella Corporation National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. Theatre on the second floor. Information will also be available about the benefits of planned giving and other options that will secure the financial future of the 501(c)(3) non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation. Those stopping by the Hall of Fame booth will also be able to purchase select hard- and soft-bound motorsports books, including the recently published “Win It or Wear It” by author Joyce Standridge. On Thursday, January 15, in conjunction with the 23rd annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum will conduct its eleventh annual museum-benefit auction. The auction will again be held in the main grandstand area, just behind turns three and four of the indoor dirt track, and the auction will start promptly at 12 Noon. Bidders are encouraged to come early to look over the unique auction items. The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Chili Bowl auction will feature special one-of-a-kind racing memorabilia and collectables, including die-cast cars, artwork, photos and apparel. Many of the items have been autographed by some of the biggest names in racing's past and present. Proceeds from the Thursday afternoon museum-benefit auction will support the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum, allowing it to continue “promoting the future while preserving the past history of sprint car racing”. Also, as in the past ten years, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum will donate 10% of the proceeds from the auction to the official charity of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, the Parent Child Center of Tulsa. Payment methods for auction items include cash, check, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover Card).
