AFTER NIGHT TWO, JASON JOHNSON & WAYNE JOHNSON ARE TIED FOR LEAD IN COX DESIGN IOWA SPEEDWEEK POINTS KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 1) - Following his win on the second preliminary night of the Arnold Motor Supply Knoxville 360 Nationals, Wayne Johnson of Knoxville tied first preliminary night winner Jason Johnson for the lead in the Cox Design Iowa Speedweek point standings. Accumulated over ten consecutive nights of sprint car racing between the Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa, points are awarded towards the coveted title of “Mr. Sprint Car”, with the champion earning $3,000 for his efforts. The current top twenty in the Cox Design Iowa Speedweek points are as follows: 1., Jason Johnson & Wayne Johnson, 50 points; 3., Billy Alley & Gary Wright, 49 points; 5., Travis Rilat & Jesse Giannetto, 48 points; 7., Tyler Walker & Brooke Tatnell, 47 points; 9., Zach Chappell & Jesse Hockett, 46 points; 11., Terry McCarl & Roger Crockett, 45 points; 13., Jonathan Cornell & Kenny Adams, 44 points; 15., Jonathan Allard & Greg Bakker, 43 points; 17., Scott Winters & Brian Brown, 42 points; 19., Jake Peters & Clint Garner, 41 points. The “Mr. Sprint Car” point chase continues on Saturday, August 2, with the final night for the Arnold Motor Supply Knoxville 360 Nationals, presented by Vermeer Manufacturing. In addition, Knoxville’s weekly ‘410’ class will compete for Iowa Speedweek points on Saturday night during their Casey’s General Stores-sponsored feature. |
