John Hall racing team kicks off 2009 season
MARION, IOWA (May 2, 2009)—A new season brings a renewed hope and finally
things seem to be going in a positive direction for John Hall and his Left
Turn Enterprises racing team. Though the results may not show it up front,
the start to the 2009 campaign was great given all the struggles of last
year.
This year marks the 22nd year of racing for the veteran from Marion, Iowa,
and 1988 Knoxville Raceway Rookie of the Year in the 360 sprint-car
division. The team kicked off its season in front of a packed house at the
Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 2.
Continued poor luck at the draw window and a broken part in the driveline
kept the results from being stellar, but the crew was finally able to smile
about all the hard work put in over the winter to turn around the troubles
of 2008.
With 57 cars on hand for the 56th season opener at Knoxville, Hall turned
hot-lap times that were good for 11th overall and showed that he is still a
competitor to be reckoned with in the 360 division.
An unfortunate starting position draw of 47 left him pushing off sixth in
his heat race. It was a seven-lap affair full of slicing and dicing and
trying to avoid all the near wrecks left Hall with a seventh-place finish.
That was only good enough for a sixth-place start in the night's C-Main,
however Hall failed to make the call for that race because of a minor break
in the drive shaft.
Even so, the team was happy with the maiden effort and the confidence has
returned to make 2009 another season of resurgence. The team will have the
car fixed and ready to roll next Saturday, May 9, for the Lucas Oil
Knoxville Championship Cup's second round.
The car is owned by Charles and Doris Hall. Crew members are Darrell
Bonesteel, Steve Lindell, Cass Page and Cole Page. Regular sponsors include
Maxim Racing, Parker Engines, APC Emmert Metal Fabricators, Marion Dairy
Queen, Seal-It International, Thompson Aero Service and Chalk Stix Torsion
Bars.
The team continues to actively seek funding for its 2009 efforts. New
sponsorship at all levels is welcome for the season, partial season or even
a one-race opportunity. Work will continue on new marketing ideas and
further development of the team’s newly revamped website at
www.johnhallracing.com
this year. For more information on sponsorship opportunities, contact Stacy
