SECOND FLOOR SET TO BE COMPLETE BY MAY 1 AT NATIONAL SPRINT
CAR HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (April 17) - According to National Sprint Car Hall of Fame &
Museum Foundation executive director Bob Baker, “The dream is about to be
complete. Years ago, our board of directors initiated a ‘Complete The Dream’
capital campaign to eliminate the debt and provide the funding for the
completion of our second floor. On May 1, I am proud to say that we will be
able to unveil our new Library and Research Center, 42-seat U.S. Smokeless
Tobacco Company Theatre and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame presented by
the Pella Rolscreen Foundation on the second floor. I know our founding
board members, as well as our past and current board members, will be so
pleased to finally see the fruits of their labor. The completed second floor
areas will make great additions to our first floor Donald Lamberti National
Sprint Car Museum and James Campbell Estate Lobby, and our third and fourth
floor Marion County Fair Tower of Suites.”
The best piece of news, though, for sprint car racing fans is the fact that
the everyday low museum admission price will not be impacted by the
completion of the second floor. Said Bob Baker today, “Even with the
addition of the continuous racing videos and the availability of the
research center, museum visitors can still expect to pay just four dollars
per adult and three dollars per student or senior citizen. And supporting
members will always be free at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame &
Museum.”
The 'Grand Opening' of the second floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of
Fame & Museum will take place on Friday, May 1, from 7 until 9 p.m. The free
and open-to-the-public event will feature full access to all areas of the
museum, including the new second floor catering kitchen which will be
stocked with complimentary snacks and drinks. The museum will also be
featuring a special reception that evening honoring the "Salute to Cheryl
Glass" exhibit and the "Salute to Bert Emick's All Star Circuit of
Champions" exhibit. Cheryl's mother Shirley Glass, and her past car owners
"Speedy" Bill Smith and Charlie Patterson, have all indicated that they will
be present. Also expected to be on hand are Bert and Brigette Emick, who now
live in Florida. Many special guests will remain in Knoxville for the World
of Outlaws sprint car races on Saturday, May 2, at Knoxville Raceway. The
national museum is located on turn number two of the legendary half-mile
dirt track.
