CLAUDINE & ELI DESHAIES PICK UP SPRINT CAR RAFFLE PRIZE
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (May 15, 2009) - Claudine Deshaies of North Kingstown, Rhode
Island, the grand prize winner of the National Sprint Car Museum's latest
sprint car raffle, and her brother/driver Eli Deshaies, picked up their
state-of-the-art JEI chassis sprint car, complete with a new Ron Shaver
Specialties 410-cubic-inch racing engine, in early May in Knoxville.
Claudine, a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and Eli, an engineer
and former ‘360’ JEI racer with Sprint Cars Of New England (SCONE), had to
coordinate their respective work schedules so that they could travel to Iowa
to claim the grand prize.
According to museum executive director Bob Baker, "It was so much fun
meeting both Claudine and Eli last week and we can’t wait to follow their
success this season at both the Williams Grove and Port Royal Speedways in
central Pennsylvania. In fact, it’s possible that Eli may even get to race
it here at Knoxville Raceway if his work schedule allows for it. We can't
thank Barry and Natalie Jackson of JEI Performance, Ron Shaver of Shaver
Specialties, and the many generous product donors who made this seventh
biennial museum fundraiser such a success!”
