Casey's General Store and Knoxville Nationals
by: Brian Stickel

KNOXVILLE, IA (June 1) - Casey’s General Store, Iowa’s premier convenience store, hast teamed up with Knoxville Raceway for the United States Auto Club (USAC) Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals on August 9th. This prestigious race is one of 11 events that compose the Cox Design Iowa Speed Weeks.

USAC-sanctioned non-winged sprint car racing will play a big part in the Iowa Speed Weeks this year, with the August 9 Casey’s General Stores Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals taking place between the July 31 pavement event in Newton and the August 11 race in Oskaloosa. “With Casey’s marketing support and these three traditional non-winged sprint car events being so close together we should be able to draw a whole new crowd to Knoxville and Iowa for some great racing,” stated Knoxville’s Race Director Ralph Capitani. “For us at Knoxville Raceway, this event provides a perfect compliment between the 360 Knoxville Nationals August 6-8 and the 49th Annual Knoxville Nationals August 12-15. In fact, it will be interesting to see which winged sprint car drivers take their ‘lids’ off to compete against the best-of-the-best non-winged sprint car drivers in this inaugural Casey’s-sponsored national championship event on Sunday, August 9.”

Casey’s General Stores has 1,478 locations in 9 states with 418 of those stores in Iowa. “Casey’s has always had a great relationship with Knoxville and this event seemed like a natural extension of our cooperative efforts”. Said Angela Wood of Casey’s. “Our involvement in racing reaches far and wide through many different outlets, and our involvement with Knoxville assists us by reaching more people through different creative efforts.”

Knoxville Raceway has 32 races each year that include 360 and 410 sprint cars, midget sprint cars, late models, and, modified cars. The Knoxville Raceway season will run through October 3rd. Tickets to any Knoxville Raceway events are available on line at www.knoxvilleraceway.com or by calling (641)842-5431.
