Paul McMahan Enters Knoxville World Challenge; Top 16 to be Inverted

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 3, 2009) - Fan favorite Paul McMahan, originally from northern California and now living in Tennessee, is the 22nd and latest sprint car driver to enter the 20-lap, $10,000-to-win Knoxville World Challenge invitational to be contested on Friday, August 14, during the 49th annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil. The event, featuring some of the top drivers from the United States, Australia and Canada, will have an invert of sixteen, based upon driver qualifying points following the first two nights of the Nationals, August 12-13.

According to director of racing Ralph Capitani, “At this point, all twelve Americans that are eligible for the event are entered, in addition to eight Australians and two Canadians. Therefore, we have decided that all drivers in the race will be inversion-eligible, meaning that the top sixteen drivers will be inverted based upon their qualifying night points. Those outside of the top sixteen will start straight-up at the rear of the field. For the fans, this means that the World Challenge should be one of the best races that they will see all week at the four-day SuperClean Knoxville Nationals.”
