Terry McCarl Takes Point Lead in Cox Design & Metal Fabrication
Iowa SpeedWeeks Points After Round 11 at Knoxville


KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 15, 2009) - Following his fourth place finish in Friday night’s Digital Delivery Networks Knoxville World Challenge, native Iowan Terry McCarl has taken the point lead in the 2009 Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa SpeedWeeks point championship. The three-track point championship will crown “Mr. Sprint Car” after 12 races in 11 nights of sprint car racing at Newton, Oskaloosa and Knoxville. Attention will now turn towards tonight’s 49th annual SuperClean Knoxville Sprint Car National Championship finale, presented by Lucas Oil, to determine the 2009 “Mr. Sprint Car”. Terry McCarl and Brian Brown are both locked into tonight’s championship A-Main, while Johnny Herrera will need to transfer to the ‘A’ from the B-Main in order to remain in contention for the title.

The 12-race “Mr. Sprint Car” title chase includes three USAC non-winged sprint car races, three American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) winged 360-cubic-inch sprint car races, and six winged 410 c.i. sprint car races. The August 10 winged ‘410’ race at Oskaloosa was sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions, with the other five races being non-sanctioned or open-competition. The August 14 winged ‘410’ race, the Digital Delivery Networks Knoxville World Challenge, was an invitational featuring top drivers from the United States, Canada, and Australia.
