“SPRINT CAR 101:  SALUTE TO RAY LEE GOODWIN” SET FOR THIRD THURSDAY IN MAY AT NATIONAL SPRINT CAR MUSEUM

KNOXVILLE, IOWA  (April 23, 2010)  -  The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum’s fourth program in its “Sprint Car 101” Third Thursday Series is set for Thursday, May 20, with a “Salute to Ray Lee Goodwin”.  The entertaining and educational question-and-answer session with the 1999 inductee into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame will begin at 7 p.m. on the museum’s second floor and it is free and open to the public.

According to museum curator Tom Schmeh, “It is only fitting in this year of the 50th annual Knoxville Sprint Car National Championships for us to take time to honor one of its past champions.  Ray Lee Goodwin won the 1968 Knoxville Nationals over Jerry Blundy and the late Earl Wagner, respectively, and then went on to claim the 1972 International Motor Contest Association point championship.  His IMCA title came over some other greats, including the late Chuck Amati, Dick Sutcliffe, the late Earl Wagner and Thad Dosher, respectively.  We look forward to honoring Raymond and Alice on Thursday, May 20.”
