KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 23, 2010) - The non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation is pleased to announce that it has begun taking orders for its seventh “Members Only” die-cast sprint car, which is the famous Rich Vogler-driven, Hoffman Family-owned #1 sprint car from 1990. The 2010 die-cast, produced by R&R Enterprises exclusively for the museum to support its annual membership program, honors National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductees Rich Vogler (1992) and August “Gus” Hoffman (2000). Supporting members of the museum foundation can order the 1/18th-scale Hoffman Auto Racing sprinter by calling 1-800-874-4488. Rich Vogler won the 1980 United States Auto Club (USAC) sprint car championship driving for owner Don Siebert. Rich won the USAC sprint car title again in 1989, driving for the famed Hoffman family, including grandfather Gus Hoffman, father Richard “Dick” Hoffman, and son Rob Hoffman. Vogler won on pavement and dirt in the Hoffman Auto Racing/Dynamics Inc. number 69 sprint car en route to the national championship, earning the right to wear the number 1 on his car’s tail tank for the following season. Sadly, in July of 1990, Rich lost his life while leading a sprint car race at the Salem, Ind., Speedway. Besides the two USAC sprint car championships (1980, ’89), Rich Vogler had earned five USAC midget car titles (1978, ’80, ’83, ’86, ’88) and five starts in the Indianapolis 500. Besides being inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1992, Rich was also inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2010. This beautiful 1/18th-scale car will have the same high-quality features as have all of the museum’s previous “Members Only” die-cast cars. R&R Enterprises purchased the modern era sprint car molds from GMP. As with the “Members Only” cars produced in 1998, 2000, ’02, ’04, ’06 and ’09, production will be limited (to 400 pieces). The Rich Vogler 1990 Hoffman Auto Racing Sprint Car #1 die-cast sprint car will only be available through the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation at a retail price of $79.95. Orders can be placed by calling the museum at 1-800-874-4488 or by mailing the completed order form, which can be found on-line at www.sprintcarhof.com/Pages/SpecialEvents, with payment back to the museum at P.O. Box 542, Knoxville, Iowa, 50138. FAX orders will be accepted at 641-842-6177, while e-mailed orders will be accepted at giftshop@sprintcarhof.com. No phone orders will be accepted during the 50th Goodyear Knoxville Nationals, August 11-14, 2010. National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation annual supporting memberships ($25) are required in order to purchase this “Members Only” museum-benefit die-cast sprint car and they are also available when ordering the die-cast sprint car. The museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation organized in the state of Iowa on April 25, 1986.
