KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 11, 2010) - Despite not competing in the non-winged sprint car races this week, National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Sammy Swindell of Tennessee continues to lead the point standings for the ten-night Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa SpeedWeek. Night number seven is tonight’s first preliminary night of the open-competition 50th annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil at the Knoxville Raceway. Brandon “Bud” Kaeding of California won both United States Auto Club (USAC) sanctioned traditional (non-winged) sprint car races this week at Knoxville (Sunday) and Oskaloosa (Tuesday), respectively. The unofficial top fifteen in the 2010 Cox Design Iowa Speedweek points after six nights are as follows: 1., Sammy Swindell, 194 points; 2., Brandon “Bud” Kaeding, 185 points; 3., Bronson Maeschen, 178 points; 4., Brady Bacon & Brooke Tatnell, 167 points (tied); 6., Robby Wolfgang, 161 points; 7., Johnny Herrera, 137 points; 8., Jamie Veal, 127 points; 9., Brian Brown, 121 points; 10., Cale Conley, 120 points; 11., Randy Hannagan, 116 points; 12., Davey Heskin, 115 points; 13., Rager Phillips, 109 points; 14., Tim Kaeding, 104 points; 15., Shane Stewart, 100 points. The Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speedweek includes ten straight nights of sprint car racing between Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway. The top three places pay $2,500, $1,000, and $500, respectively, with the winner declared the Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” titlist. Past “Mr. Sprint Car” titlists include Ricky Logan (2002) of Arkansas, Shane Stewart (2003, ’04) of Oklahoma, Billy Alley (2005) of Nebraska, Jason Johnson (2006) of Louisiana, Wayne Johnson (2007, ‘08) of Oklahoma, and Terry McCarl (2009) of Iowa.
