IMCA Late Models make second stop at Donnellson By Jake Croxton DONNELLSON, IA (May 27) – After Mother Nature soured a promising weekend, the Lee County Speedway will spring to life again this Friday, May 30, with the second of five events for the Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Models. The two most recent Deery Bros. Summer Series race winners are expected to be in attendance. Justin Reed and Tom Darbyshire sit in a tie for second behind points leader Jason Frankel going into Friday’s Fleck Sales Miller Lite-sponsored program for the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program. Reed earned his first career Deery Series checkered flag in Allison, Iowa, on May 21, while 2007 Track Champion Darbyshire took both the checkered flag and the series points lead from Boone Speedway on Memorial Day. Last time out, nobody was able to handle Quincy’s Jason Frankel as he led every lap of the caution-free 25-lap affair. The Draw/Redraw event will pay $800 to win, courtesy of Taylor Massner and Nick & Kerri Wilkerson. Grandstand general admission $10 for Adults, $9 for Seniors, $7 for Students 11-17, and Free for Kids 10 and under. All race fans will receive their first drink free under the new “Thirsty Friday” promotion. Each individual that purchases an admission ticket will receive a stamped wooden nickel that they can redeem at the concession or beer stand courtesy of Pepsi, Miller Lite, and Budweiser. Race time is 7:30. The IMCA Stock Cars will take the night off and return to action next week. Other classes on the card will be the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Lawson Racing Engines & Parts Supply SportMods, Donnellson Tire Hobby Stocks, and the Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things.
