Candy Dash, Hobby Stock bounty highlights Farmers & Merchants
Mutual Telephone Company Night at Lee County Speedway

DONNELLSON, Ia (June 3) – The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program
continues at the Lee County Speedway on Friday, June 6, during Farmers &
Merchants Mutual Telephone Company Night at the Races.All five weekly
classes return to the forefront of the activities, including a bounty for
the Donnellson Tire Hobby Stocks.
Weikert Iron and Metal is sponsoring a School’s Out Candy Dash for the TA
Auto & Tire Junior Fan Club members. SportMod driver Chad Sovern also
donated his last week’s race check toward the purchase of candy and
materials.
It is no secret that Montrose’s Dean Kratzer’s early-season run is one for
the record books. Kratzer, and his Lawson Racing Engines / Jean Kratzer Avon
/ Buick, is undefeated through four feature events in Donnellson Tire Hobby
Stock competition. Thus far, $120 ($345 to win) is loaded on top of the
purse to any driver that can defeat Kratzer, if and only if he finishes the
feature. Kratzer leads the standings by 6 over former track titlist Jeff
Soper of Kahoka, MO.
Also on the schedule for Hobby Stock competitors is a Rookie Rally. All
competitors that have never won a feature or a Rookie Rally are eligible to
compete for Performance Bodies product certificates and a trophy.
Burlington’s Bill Roberts currently holds a five-point lead over Dean McGee
in the Miller Lite IMCA Modified standings. McGee and third-place Josh
Foster are the only drivers to find victory lane so far in 2008.
Mt. Pleasant’s Jason Cook holds a three-point advantage over both John
Oliver, Jr. and Jeff Mueller in the ultra-competitive Budweiser IMCA Stock
Car division. Keokuk’s Jim Gillenwater leads Phillip Cossel by 8 points in
the Lawson Racing Engines and Parts Supply SportMods. Rob Hammel leads Chuck
Fullenkamp by 11 points in Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Thing competition.
Cindy Cook and Bert Pagel tied for the weekly win in Fantasy Racing on May
30. Cook and Bill Knisley are tied in the overall standings, as just four
points separate the top 5.
All gates open at 5:30 for the 5-class show. Hot laps are scheduled for 7pm
with racing to follow at 7:30.
Grandstand general admission $8 for Adults, $7 for Seniors, $5 for Students
11-17, and Free for Kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $20.
