Pre-entry Deadline approaches for Liberty Cup, Late Models return for Round 3
By Jake Croxton

DONNELLSON, IA (June 24, 2008) – The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program continues at the Lee County Speedway on Backslash Technologies Night, this Friday, June 27, at the Lee County Speedway. The Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Models will make their third appearance of the season as Point Average racing begins.

Jason Frankel and Jay Johnson have seen victory lane thus far, but the story has been Tom Goble. The former LCS Modified track champion was a lap away from his first career IMCA Late Model victory last time out, but wheel failure ended his bid for glory.

Backslash Technologies and owner Kevin Harter will be giving away a racing computer. This year, the tower is a replica of a race engine. The top 6 IMCA Late Models from the Heat Races will be assigned to six lucky fans and the winning driver will win the computer for his lucky fan.

The pre-entry deadline for the July 3 Liberty Cup is Monday, June 30. That gives drivers just 6 days to save $10 on the entry fee for the first-annual event.

The Liberty Cup will feature a $1,500 to win A-Main for the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds. The IMCA National Points event will also qualify the race winner for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational during Boone Speedway’s IMCA Supernationals. Race winners in any IMCA National event paying $1,000 or more since last June are eligible to be voted into the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational via the IMCA website.

On July 3, the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars will battle for $1,000 to win, the Donnellson Tire Hobby Stocks will race for $600 to win, and the Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things will vie for $300 to win. A huge fireworks display is also planned to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.

Grandstand general admission $10 for Adults, $9 for Seniors, $7 for Students 11-17, and Free for Kids 10 and under. All race fans will receive their first drink free under the new “Thirsty Friday” promotion. Each individual that purchases an admission ticket will receive a stamped wooden nickel that they can redeem at the concession or beer stand courtesy of Pepsi, Miller Lite, and Budweiser. The Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things have the week off.
