Figure 8 Demo and Disco Night get a ‘peace’ of the LCS action on Aug. 1
By Jake Croxton

DONNELLSON, IA (July 30)  – With just four nights remaining in the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program points chase, several battles are taking shape for the stretch run. This week, there will be several distractions to keep the tension down in the pit area – including a $500 to win 25-lap Figure 8 race and Disco Night.

The closest points battle coming into the week is the Miller Lite IMCA Modified skirmish between Galesburg, Ill’s Dean McGee and Montrose’s Josh Foster. McGee is seeking his first LCS track championship while Foster is in search of his second. Foster has won the last two points-paying events at LCS and has the gap down to just one point with four races remaining.

Dean Kratzer retook the Donnellson Tire Hobby Stock points lead after Jeff Soper’s trouble a week ago. Dan Wenig is now 8-points back in second. Other points leaders with a little breathing room include Jim Gillenwater (Lawson Racing Engines and Parts Supply SportMods), Jeff Mueller (Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars), and Rob Hammel (Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things).

Immediately following the regularly scheduled events for the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars, Donnellson Tire Hobby Stocks, Lawson Racing Engines and Parts Supply SportMods, and Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things, the Figure 8 Demo will take to the front straightaway. Rules are available at www.leecountyspeedway.com. Check-in cutoff for this event is 7pm. Interest in this year’s event in three-fold compared to last year’s 9-car field. Even some of the weekly warriors may have an entry as they gun for the top prize.

A party for 6 in the VIP suite is on the line for the most 70s ‘peace and love’ shown during Disco Night. The best dressed, as voted on by applause on the front straightaway, will win the VIP party.

Due to rain, both Veyance Technologies and Gregory Manufacturing employees will be able to use their tickets at any point until August 29’s Season Championship.
