Drive for 5 highlights 6-class
show at LCS on Friday DONNELLSON, IA (May 5) - The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program at the Lee County Speedway is one for two as Shottenkirk Parts Express presents round two of the Pilot Grove Savings Bank / Ideal Ready Mix Drive for Five Late Model series. Action will be plentiful as the rain from a week ago has several rescheduled promotional events on tap. Climax Molybdenum will sponsor Family Night for their employees. Shimek Speedway will have a go-kart display under the main grandstand as they highlight their season. Donnellson, Argyle, Montrose, and Farmington residents will enjoy a free night at the races as their community night will take center stage. The community night is courtesy of Dahm’s Chevrolet, Donnellson Chiropractic, Donnellson Tire, Dave’s Old Fashioned Meats, Wood BP, Kirchner Machine & Auto Parts, and Pilot Grove Savings Bank. Green Bay Motors and Harvest Moon Quilt Company will have Mother’s Day gifts for the Junior Fan Club. With all of the off-track events, don’t forget about the racing program. Opening night featured a 33-car IMCA Late Model field with Quincy’s Mark Burgtorf picking up the checkered flag. Other opening night winners were Quincy, Illinois’ Michael Long (IMCA Modified), Mt. Pleasant’s Jason Cook (IMCA Stock Car), Ft. Madison’s Thad Gaylord (IMCA SportMod), and Doug Fenton (Hobby Stock). Grandstand general admission $10 for Adults, $9 for Seniors, $7 for Students 11-17, and Free for Kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $20. Admission is free for those Donnellson, Argyle, Montrose, and Farmington residents showing ID. Race time is 7:30.
