DONNELLSON, Iowa (September 1) - Drivers and fans who have followed IMCA Late Models and the Deery Brothers Summer Series can switch off the GPS this Labor Day holiday weekend. They're already well acquainted with how to get to tracks hosting Sept. 5-7 tour events. Lee County Speedway at Donnellson hosts the opener on Saturday night, Sept. 5. The series is at Quincy, Ill., Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 6 before making the trip to Boone Speedway for opening night of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals on Monday, Sept. 7. Mark Burgtorf has won five of the 23 previous events held at Donnellson, where pit gates and the grandstand will open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. More information is available by calling 319 528-4301. Burgtorf's six wins are also tops through the first 21 series races held at Quincy, where gates will open at 3 p.m. and the grandtstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. and the race program, which also includes 410 sprint cars, starts at 6:30 p.m. Additional information about the Quincy show is available by calling 217 224-3843 or 217 224-4100. Late Models share the Labor Day spotlight at Boone with IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks. Pit gates open at 10 a.m. on Labor Day, the grandstand opens at 1 p.m., hot laps start at 2 p.m. and racing begins at 3 p.m. The number to call for more information about that event is 515 987-1220. Gary Webb leads all drivers with four Deery wins at Boone, all of which doubled as Super Nationals championships. Jeff Aikey, the five time tour king and current point leader, has won three of the 32 Late Model events held there. All three upcoming Deery events pay $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. Pit passes are $25. The 23rd annual series concludes with the $10,000 to win Pepsi USA Nationals at 34 Raceway in West Burlington on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19.
