Kelly Boen Takes Night #1 of King of the Hill Shootout!

McCOOL JUNCTION, NE (August 7) - Henderson, Colorado's Kelly Boen
continued his torrid summer hot streak by capturing the win in the opening
night of the O'Reilly MLRA King of the Hill Late Model Shootout at Junction
Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska. Boen took the lead from Al
Purkey on the sixth lap and held on for his third O'Reilly MLRA win of 2009.
Kyle Berck led the opening laps, but 5-Time MLRA Champion Purkey took to the
high side to make the pass for the lead before Boen ultimately took the lead
back on the sixth lap and led the rest of the way to take the win. Purkey
and Boen battled for second throughout the race with Purkey ultimately
ending up in second while Berck settled for third. Denny Woodworth and Joe
Kosiski used provisionals to get into the field and worked their way up from
deep in the field to take fourth and fifth respectively.
Omaha's John Anderson endured to take the sixth spot while another Nebraska
native, Mike Wiarda finished in seventh. Lincoln, Nebraska's Jake Neighbors
was eighth in the final rundown with Grand Junction, Colorado's Dean Moore
finishing in ninth. Lompoc, California's, yes that California finished in
10th. Heat Race Winners included Berck, Goldsmith, Boen, Friesen, and Mike
Johnson. Consolation races were won by Ronnie Wallace and David Turner.
Boen's Rocket Chassis is Powered by a Jay Dickens Racing Engine with
sponsorship support from Road Runner Fabrication, AFCO Racing Products,
Intensitee Custom Racewear, Race Wise Dirt Track Chassis School, Peterson
Fluid Systems, and Performance Bodies. The 25 Lap Feature was worth $2,000
to win. Boen is the 4-time and Defending O'Reilly NCRA Champion. The win was
Boen's 10th career MLRA Feature win and third of 2009. The race was
co-sanctioned by the O'Reilly NCRA. MLRA Provisionals were awarded to Denny
Woodworth and Joe Kosiski. NCRA Provisionals were awarded to Jason O'Brien
and Craig Preble. 47 Cars entered the event. Complete Points standings will

The Drivers and Teams take to the track again on Saturday night, August 8th
for night #2 of the King of the Hill Late Model Shootout at Junction Motor
Speedway. Saturday nights action starts at 7:00 PM with $15 general
admission tickets, $4 for ages 6-12 and ages five and under admitted free.
Support classes include NASCAR Modifieds, Stock Cars, and Hobby Stocks.
