MLRA Reaches Out with Social Media
BUCKNER, MO (September 12) - The O'Reilly MLRA Presented by Lucas Oil
Products implemented an aggressive campaign in 2009 to utilize Social Media
to not only reach out to new audiences but also to give our existing fans an
outlet for realtime results and social networking. "Social Media has become
such a buzzword these days that we thought we better get on board with it"
stated MLRA Public Relations Director Dan Robinson. "I had no idea how
effective it would really be but the growth in these areas has been
outstanding this year. It takes many different methods to reach the public
and this is just another avenue to do that." All of the sites mentioned are
FREE to join and are a lot of fun.
The O'Reilly MLRA started a Facebook page in late 2008. We post all of our
upcoming event info, results, and photos for every race. The MLRA group now
has over 1,000 members! One of the great features of Facebook is that is
allows the group to send out event invitations for each and every event to
all of the group members. You no longer have to search for event info, you
can have it come directly to your inbox for each and every event. You do
have to join Facebook but it is an easy process. All you need is a name,
email address, and birthdate and you're in. Once you get signed up or logged
in, just search for "MLRA".
The MLRA has had a MySpace Page for some time which can be found at
www.myspace.com/mlraracing but it has undergone a total transformation in
2009 with new photos, videos, and updated information. You can follow along
in our Blog to get updated news, tidbits, and info about the MLRA. The
MySpace page has grown to over 800 members as well! One great thing about
these Social Media sights is that it allows you to meet other people that
share the same passion for high octane Dirt Late Model Racing. MySpace is
easy to join also with only minimal information required but you can view
our page without joining.
Facebook and MySpace are great sites but the biggest advance in mainstream
networking is Twitter. Twitter is everywhere, you can't turn the TV on
without seeing the logo or the reference to it. The MLRA Twitter page is
growing rapidly and can be found at www.twitter.com/MLRA. The great thing
about Twitter is that once you have an account, again a very simple signup
process, you can sign up to "Follow " the MLRA. If you enter your cell phone
number, you can click the Device Updates options to receive realtime global
text messages with updated results as they happen! Standard text messaging
rates apply. We would rather see you at the races but we realize fans can't
get to every race and this gives you a way to stay on the lead lap with
updates.
Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace may not be for everyone but it is another
great way to reach out to our fans and is a great way to expose new fans to
Dirt Late Model Racing. Don't forget the next race will be on September 26th
at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. If you can't make it to the race,
be sure to get signed up on one of these great Social Networking sites. You
can sign up for any or all of these social media sites at
www.MLRAracing.com. We also have a link to sign up for our FREE Email
service. I must warn you that these sites may be addictive and habit
forming. If you have any trouble getting signed up, be sure to send an email
to racerdan@windstream.net and I'll set you up. See you at the Races!
