BUCKNER, MO (August 9, 2010) - The Lucas Oil MLRA returns to action this
weekend (August 13th-14th) as the Lucas Oil MLRA battles the O'Reilly NCRA
in the King of the Hill Late Model Shootout at Junction Motor Speedway in
McCool Junction, Nebraska. Friday night's action will be highlighted by a
$2,000 to win show with Saturday's show paying $3,000 to win.
The points battle in the Lucas Oil MLRA Season Championship is stacked at
the top with some of the top names in Dirt Late Model racing as only a few
points separate the leaders. Republic, Missouri's Brad Looney continues to
lead the charge as he holds a tiny 8 point lead over 6-time and defending
MLRA Champion Al Purkey. Purkey recently went back to running his own Larry
Shaw Chassis out of his Coffeyville, Kansas shop and has been fast night in
and night out. Looney has been up front and consistent as well all season
and will be a serious threat down the stretch to capture the MLRA Crown as
the schedule boasts 13 races yet to be contested.
Dave Eckrich represents the State of Iowa as the Oxford, Iowa driver
continues to chase MLRA points as he sits in the third spot just 10 behind
the leader Looney and only 2 points out of the second spot. The Driver of
the #58 Barry Wright Racecar is as serious threat to win each night. Terry
Phillips out of Springfield, Missouri holds down the fourth spot, just 14
points out of the lead. Phillips captured a pair of MARS/UMP wins this past
weekend in his Andy's Frozen Custard/Don Babb Motorsports GRT. Phillip's
Teammate Jeremy Payne holds down the final spot in the Top-5.
Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, Joe Kosiski out of Omaha, Nebraska occupies
the fifth spot as 2010 Rookie of the Year Contender and current RoY leader,
Evan Hubert out of Cross Timbers, Missouri holds down the seventh spot.
Hubert scored a second and a sixth at the last two O'Reilly NCRA races in
Nebraska and Kansas. Chad Simpson, Chris Spieker, and Bill Koons round out
the Top 10 in Lucas Oil MLRA points respectively.
