Chad Simpson in Victory Lane at Lucas Oil Speedway
MLRA (April 12, 2011) - Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa parked his Liebe
Trucking MasterSbilt #25 in the Lucas Oil MLRA, Triple A Victory Lane after
the 40 lap main event Saturday night. A beautiful and hot early spring day
greeted the Lucas Oil MLRA at Lucas Oil Speedway with a spectacular field of
55 late models packing the pit area for the track's opening night.
Five heat races and three B Features took the fastest 22 cars, plus 2 series
provisional drivers to make the 24 car field for Lucas Cattle Company A
Feature. Heat race winners included, Jeremy Payne, Nick Marolf, Terry
Phillips, Jesse Stovall and Saturday's winner, Chad Simpson. B Feature wins
went to, Tony Jackson Jr., Dave Eckrich and Ronnie Lee Hollingsworth. The
series awarded provisional start positions to Joe Kosiski and Bill Koons.
The Lucas Cattle A Feature went 34 laps before a caution would slow the
field. Simpson would restart with top contenders on his tail. Simpson was
able to pull away from the field and remain out front for the win. Jesse
Stovall, Brandon McCormick, Jeremy Payne and Terry Phillips completed the
top five. The win for Simpson is his second Lucas Oil MLRA series win in as
many years.
With Stovall's second place finish he topped the early season points
standings. Stovall's #00 Rushin Towing and Swafford Service Shaw Race Car
has kicked off the 2011 Lucas Oil MLRA season with three solid top ten
finishes. Not far behind Stovall is 2010 Champion Al Purkey, Springfield,
Missouri's Terry Phillips, Kyle Berck of Marquette, Nebraska and Brad Looney
from Republic, Missouri.
