Rain Stops Frost Buster
by: Dennis Grabenbauer
Marshalltown, Ia. (April 2, 2006) - New Marshalltown Speedway
promoter Toby Kruse will be waiting until next Friday night to take over the
reins at the famed quarter mile speedway. “Our guys tried every and anything we
could think of, but the wet grounds and the threat of more rain coming our way,
it was more that we bargained for, so we pulled the plug and cancelled this
year’s Frost Buster,” said Kruse.
“I really want to thank all of the people that have been out here working to get
the track in shape, and to get our facilities back up to speed. I may wear the
promoter’s hat, but its everyone around you that contributes that makes a
program a success. Even though we were ready for Sunday’s event to begin, this
will make us even sharper when next Friday comes around,” continued Kruse.
Friday night April 7th will mark the opening of the 42nd season at the speedway
which makes the Marshalltown track one of the longest running weekly racing
programs in and around the state of Iowa. Toby Kruse becomes only the fifteenth
promoter at the speedway to control the racing action. “The fans are really
lucky here in Marshalltown,” say’s Kruse. “When I traveled for I.M.C.A. you
could be at tracks who would have a different promoter every year, and that is
so hard to build a program. I have a ten-year lease, which will give me time to
build a even bigger program than the one that I have inherited. And that is my
plans and that is my goal to make the Marshalltown Speedway one of the finest
facilities in the country.”
The Season Opener will get underway Friday night with hot-laps starting at 6:30
and the first green flag of the first race of the new era will begin at 7:30. “I
can’t wait to see the expressions on the faces of the fans. The place looks like
a different racing facility,” explains a smiling Kruse. “All of the hanging over
head wires are gone, the track has been reshaped to its original shape, and
orange tires will mark the new look track. All of the our advertising signs are
clean and fresh, and I can’t wait for it all to begin.”
Grandstand tickets become available at 6:00 when the ticket windows open. For
