Rain Slows Racing Season in Marshalltown!
by: Dennis Grabenbauer
MARSHALLTOWN, Ia. (May 12, 2006) - Hours before week number six was to come to
life, promoter Toby Kruse, had to make a needed decision he hated to make, to
cancel the nights racing action. “It has been raining since 8:00 in the morning
and at 2:00 in the afternoon, it was still slightly raining so rather than have
our guys drive to get here then send them home, we decided to pull the pug, and
I am really glad we did.” The reason Kruse was happy with his decision was that
it still was raining at 6:00 and kept raining on into the evening. “We have
drivers that are making trips from as far as Lake Mills, and Lake City to the
northwest, Dexter and Perry from the Southwest, Marengo and Cedar Rapids to the
east and Waterloo and Dunkerton to the northeast. I just didn’t want to mislead
them in thinking that we were going to pull it off this week.”
The annual Cliff Chambers Memorial plus Scout Night has been moved until next
Friday night. “Not only was I thinking of the drivers, but the fans need to know
what we are doing in time to make different plans also, next week we will just
pick up where we left off.”
Hot laps will begin starting at 6:45 and the first race of the evening will
begin at 7:30. All Scouts young or old, big or small, boy or girl, will be
admitted free into the grandstands if they are wearing a Scout uniform.
