MARSHALLTOWN, WEST UNION PREPARE FOR O’REILLY USMTS “HUNTING PARTY” MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Sept. 8) – In less than two weeks, the Casey's General Stores Hunt for the O'Reilly USMTS National Championship will be history and the tenth O'Reilly USMTS National Champion will be crowned. With eight races in the books, five events remain. First stop: Marshalltown! The long-awaited debut of America's Hottest Ticket on Dirt at the Marshalltown Speedway in Marshalltown, Iowa takes place this Saturday, Sept. 13 for the inaugural "Havoc on the Highbanks" event at Toby Kruse's historic 1/4-mile high-banked clay oval. Then on Sunday, Sept. 14, the rugged O'Reilly USMTS road warriors head north to the Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa as the O'Reilly USMTS National Tour adds another first-time venue to the list with the second $2,000-to-win show of the weekend. Kelly Shryock of Fertile, Iowa is seeking his unprecedented ninth O'Reilly USMTS National Champion, and leads Tim Donlinger of Rochester, Minn. by just eight points (944 to 936) heading into the Marshalltown blockbuster. Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon, Iowa is third with 915 markers, followed by Jon Tesch of Watertown, S.D. (884); Al Hejna of Clear Lake, Iowa (836); Tommy Weder Jr. of Woodward, Okla. (762); Dereck Ramirez of Woodward, Okla. (756); Brandon Kenny of Woodward, Okla. (717); Alan Mondus of Lakeville, Minn. (701); and Waterloo, Iowa's Corey Dripps (678). Other drivers expected for this weekend's doubleheader include Ron Ver Beek, Scott Green, Jake Neal, Bryan Rowland, Bob Timm, Ryan Gustin, Dean Mahlstedt, Steve Wetzstein, Donovan Lodge, Dan Bohr, Tommy Myer, Mike Sorensen, Jay Ihrke, Jason Cummins, Richie Gustin Jr., Jeff Schluetter, Mark Noble, Doug Hillson, Joey Schaefer, Kevin Pittman, Pat Graham and more as Marshalltown regulars such as Jimmy Gustin, Vern Jackson, Scott Simatovich, Scott Hogan and Brett Ladehoff defend their home turf against the high-powered invasion.
