USMTS Modifieds will make their first ever appearance at the famed 1/4 mile

MARSHALLTOWN, IA (March 24) - The 2009 racing season will be a season of two more firsts for the fans and racers at the Marshalltown Speedway. First of all, the USMTS Modifieds will make their first ever appearance at the famed 1/4 mile.

The second first will be the appearance of NASCAR and Speed Channel star Kenny Wallace as he will be piloting his very own Jeg's USMTS Modified. On the bill with the USMTS Modifieds on May 20th will be Stock Cars, Sport Mods, and Hobby Stocks.
The previous three divisions will be using the weekly rules or USRA sanctioned rules.

The season is set to get under way at Marshalltown with the first of Three Frostbuster events. The IMCA Modifieds will be running for $1,000 win, the IMCA Stock Cars will earn $500 for their efforts, the IMCA Sport Mods are going after $300, and the IMCA Hobby Stocks will be shooting for a $250 top prize.

The pit gates will open at 4:30, hot laps are at 6:15, and the first green flag of the night will fly at 7:00 p.m.


The second night of the Frostbuster weekend racers will travel to the Hamilton County Speedway and end the weekend at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton, Iowa.

The Marshalltown Speedway will host the Annual Image Maker Motorsports Car Show at the Marshall Town Center this weekend. Saturday March 28th, entertainment will be a big part of the show, as local entertainers Linda Johnson and Carl Giannatto will join "America's Got Talent" star Joesph Hall, "Elvis" as they will be performing and signing auto graphs starting at 2:00, in a "meet and great" with Hall.

The racing weekend will come to a culmination with a practice night Sunday March 29th at the Marshalltown Speedway.
The pit gates open at 3:30 with practice running from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The practice is open to any and all cars, grandstand admission is free and pit passes will be $10.
