MARSHALLTOWN, IA (April 17) - It would be a picture perfect night on Friday as week number two roared to life with another huge car count of 150-race teams and crews along with another standing room crowd in the grandstand to watch close side by side racing at the famed quarter mile Speedway.  “This is the night we have been waiting for,” said promoter Toby Kruse.  “We had people all day that were bringing in their blankets by putting them down to save their spots in the stands, and with our new west side grandstands, people want to make sure they sit in the new area.”

The racetrack like in weeks past was near perfect also.  “Our drivers can pick a line on the track and run high or low or in the middle, it was smooth and fast all the way around.”  Winning streaks would continue while other drivers would find victory lane for the first time in 2009.

Two drivers would stay perfect in winning every night so far this season.  Mike Morrill would be the first driver to keep his streak alive, as he would win the Mod Lite Dwarf Car feature.  Morrill would make the pass of early race leader D.J. Schmalzried on lap four and would pull away from the rest of the field to score his third win of the year.  Tim Hennigar would close the gap by the end of the fifteen-lap event, but would run out of time and finish second.  Andy Hennigar would finish third with Joel Huggins coming home forth.

Kevin Sather would also stay unbeatable in the Big 8 Tyre I.M.C.A. Sport Mod feature, but it would take until five laps from the end before Sather would take the top spot.  Kyle Brown would lead through the half waypoint before giving way to the hard charging Sather.  Scott Davis and Brad Iverson would finish third and forth respectively.

Jeff Wollam would take the lead from the drop of the green during the Aarons I.M.C.A. Stock Car feature, but it would be Dustin Smith who would take the win in week number two.  Yellow flags would slow the eighteen-lap event many times, but the racing would stay close when the green flag was out.  On lap four there was a five-car battle for the top spot with Dusty Vis taking the lead from Wollam.  It would then become a two-car challenge between Smith and Vis, as they would race side by side.  At the end, Smith would emerge the winner, as Michael Jaennette would take the second spot followed by Vis and Ryan Leeman.

Adam Larson would take the lead on the start of the Meswaki Bingo Casino I.M.C.A. Modified feature lead all twenty-laps to score the victory.  On lap one, behind Larson, they would race five wide coming off of turn two.  Then one lap later, positions second through sixth would crash coming off turn four mixing up the finishing positions at the end.  Again, many yellow flags would com out during the first four laps, but then the next sixteen laps would be run green to checkered.  Behind Larson would be Jon Snyder, Scott Simatovich and Ron Lauritzen rounding out the top four.

Todd Reitzer would score his first feature in the Junction Sports Bar & Grill I.M.C.A. Hobby Stock division in over a year.  Gene Nichols would lead the opening lap with the top three running three wide at times.  On lap five Eric Larson would take the lead and hold on until five laps to go.  With the laps winding down Reitzer would take the lead and hold off Terry Shaffar for the win.  Behind Reitzer and Shaffar would be Larson and Michael Murphy.

Dustin Elliott would win the final event of the night, the Americas Best Value Inn King of the Hill event for the Hobby Stocks.  Elliott would out distance Justin Lichty by a front fender to score his first win in more than a year and his first King of the Hill event.

The racing season will continue next Friday night with Media night at the speedway.  Gates will open at 5:30.  Hot laps will begin at 6:45 and the first race of the evening will begin at 7:30
