Rain Halts Races Again!
MARSHALLTOWN, IA (June 19) - For the second time in as many weeks, rain and
Mother Nature would be the big winners at the Marshalltown Speedway. Even
though race promoters know that there is never a control of the weather and
rain outs will always happen, the decision to cancel is still one of the
toughest things he might have to do.
“This year it seems like our rain outs could be questioned, but in the long
run we really have done the right thing,” says promoter Toby Kruse. “I know
people might of questioned us in calling the races off Friday night,
especially when the sun came out two-hours later, but it would of taken us
to much time and it just is not worth putting the drivers and fans through
all of that. If I could have it my way, we would just get a large amount of
rain early afternoon, then it would be easier to make the call. But when it
did like it did this week, it makes our decision sometimes easy to second
guess.”
Friday night’s event was to be the Arnold Motor Supply Mid-Season. “Not only
do we have to reschedule Mid-Season but our Faster Pastor night also will be
rescheduled later in the season. We will work out a plan and get out the
information sometime next week. We will have our Mid-Season event next
Friday night.”
Next Friday night promoter Kruse and his staff will again be ready for
racing action to take place with the grandstand opening at 5:30, hot laps
will be at 6:45 and the first race of the night will get underway at 7:30.
