MARSHALLTOWN, IA (Sept 11) - This past Friday night the famed high-banked quarter mile race sat quite as plans and preparations continue for next week’s 3rd Annual “Havoc on the High Banks” to get underway. Just one week from crowning the 2009 Class Champions promoter Toby Kruse knows and wants to end the season on a building high note as he looks toward April of 2010. “We’ve been receiving entries almost daily for next weekends event, some as far away as Canada,” said Kruse. “Our purse to the drivers is going to be one of the best around, and many tracks have closed for the season that is why having the “Havoc” is so important. It will bring people into our community for as many as three days and nights and I am looking forward to ending our season on a high note.” The two-day event is as unique as it name. Two individual racing programs, with both nights, Friday September 18th and Saturday September 19th each are paying the same for drivers in all divisions. I.M.C.A. Modifieds will race for $1000 to win and will receive $100 just to start the feature event. I.M.C.A. Stock Cars will race for 500 to win and $75 to start. I.M.C.A. Sport Mods will race for $400 to win and $60 to start and I.M.C.A. Hobby Stocks will race for $250 to win and $50 to start. “This is why I like to refer to September as the “month of money”. And not only will money be on the line but I.M.C.A. State, Regional & National points will be awarded and for the Modifieds this will be a 2010 Fast Shafts All Star Invitational Qualifier.” Two complete shows on two nights starting next Friday. The gates will open on Friday night at 5 pm, hot laps will begin at 7:00 and racing will follow at 7:30. On Saturday night the gates will open at 4:30, hot laps will be at 6:30 with racing to begin at 7:00. And then if that isn’t enough, promoter Kruse will end the season during the Oktemberfest celebrations with racing on Sunday afternoon September 27th. “We’re going topless with the Modifieds. Our Modifieds drivers will be taking their roofs off their cars to give the event a little different look.” It will be an earlier start with racing to begin at 6:00. After Sunday’s event the track will again set idle and quite until next April when again Toby Kruse will light up the racing world once again.
