PACKED HOUSE GREETS DEERY BROTHERS LATE MODELS
MARSHALLTOWN, IA (May 18, 2010) – With Mother Nature finally on our side, a
full grandstand got to see some of the best IMCA Late Model drivers in the
country for Tuesday nights Miller Lite 50. 100 cars filled the the pits as
Deery Brothers Late Models, Mod Lites, Karl Chevrolet SportMods and Karl
Chevrolet Dirt Trucks kept the fans on the edge of their seats all night
long, as the track was smooth as glass all evening.
The Mod Lite Dwarf Cars were the first feature to take the track and the low
line around the track was the most popular around the track as Joel Huggins
led the entire 15 lap feature to pick up his second consecutive win. Josh
May got 2nd, Tim Hennigar 3rd, Mike Morrill 4th and Matt Goodin rounded out
the top 5. The yellow flag flew on laps 1 and 12. Heat race winners were
Eric Hendrickson and Tim Hennigar.
The Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks took the track next and a very ecstatic Pat
Fagan picked up the win during the 10 lap race, with a caution coming out on
lap 8. Bryan Nevins Jr. got 2nd, Ed Nelson 3rd, Bret Moyer 4th and Lou
Sipolt 5th. Bryan Nevins Jr. and Lou Sipolt each won the heat races.
Brett Moffitt stole the show once again in the Karl Chevrolet Northern
SportMod feature, as the 17 year old picked up his second win of the season
at Marshalltown. Moffitt had a straight away lead erased due to a lap 9
caution. After the caution Moffitt once again pulled away from the field and
ended up leading all 15 laps. Zach Rawlins picked up the 2nd place finish,
Kyle Brown 3rd, Jesse Sobbing 4th and Rod McDonald 5th. Heat race winners
were Andy Tiernan, Brett Moffitt, Rod McDonald and Cayden Carter.
The Deery Brother Late Models kept the fans wanting more, as all night they
raced 3 and 4 wide for position on the track and the main event proved to be
more than entertaining. Veteran Greg Kastli set the pace for the first 4
laps and then 6 time series champ Jeff Aikey made his move on lap 5 and
never looked back. The yellow flag would fly on laps 4, 11, 23 and 37 in the
50 lap event. Series points leader Ray Guss Jr. would challenge Aikey for
the lead many times as they both ran the high side but Aikey held him off
the pickup the win. Guss Jr. finished 2nd, Mark Burgtorf got 3rd after
restarting 22nd on lap 11, Jay Johnson 4th and Terry Neal 5th. Heat race
