MARSHALLTOWN, IA (March 19, 2012)
– Marshalltown Speedways first scheduled event for 2012 is just days away.
The 2012 schedule that will boast 26 nights of racing at the famed ¼ mile
dirt track, located on the Marshall County Fairgrounds. The 2012 season will
see sanctioned racing in the IMCA Modifieds,
Stock Cars, SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport
Compacts classes. Also completing on the Friday night race cards will be the
Mod Lites.
The first scheduled laps of the new season will be on Sunday, April 1st.
Starting at noon on Sunday, April 1st, drivers, car owners and fans are
invited out to the fairgrounds, where the cars will be on display and
drivers will sign autographs during the 2012 pre-season car show. There will
also be a free cook out with Marshalltown Speedway Promoter, Toby Kruse and
his staff serving up free hotdogs and hamburgers to all who are in
attendance. Following the car show and cook out, will be an open practice.
This practice session will start promptly at 5:00 pm and end around 8:00pm.
Grandstand admission will be free and pit passes will be $10 for the three
hour practice.
The 2012 opening night of racing is scheduled to take
place on Friday, April 6th when the Tri-County Heating annual “Frostbuster”
hits the high banks. In 2011 a record setting 229 race teams took to the ¼
mile speed plant to contest for the annual “Frostbuster”
championship.
The Wolf Seeds “Chase for the Championship” will kick off the official
points season on Friday, April 13th and be contested on a total of 21 Friday
nights. After all, Marshalltown Speedway is “What Friday Nights are made
for”.
Mark your calendar for these additional special event
in 2012: the 7th annual “Miller Lite 50” IMCA
Derry Brothers Summer Series for Late Models event, scheduled for Tuesday
night, May 22nd, the Toby K’s Hideaway “1K Shootout” on July 3rd. Once again
the “Shootout” will pay $1,000 to win for both the IMCA Stock Cars and
SportMods. Also included on the race card for
that night will also be the IMCA Sport Compacts and the Mod
Lites. And, on Friday night, July 20th, the IMCA
Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win, on the heels of
Knoxville Raceway’s annual “Harris Clash” for
Modifieds.
The 2012 season will come to an exciting culmination
when racers from across the nation and Canada merge on Marshalltown Speedway
for the 6th annual Toby K’s Hideaway “Havoc on the
Highbanks”. The 2012 version of the “Havoc” is
scheduled for Friday & Saturday, September 21st and 22nd.
Race fans may purchase 2012 season tickets for the grandstands at a reduced
rate of $170 and season pit passes may be purchased for only $380. Season
tickets and season pit passes will be good for the 21 nights that make up
the Wolf Seeds “Chase for the Championship” only.
For the drivers in 2012 there will also be an added perk. “The Road to
Indy”: in each of the shared IMCA classes between Marshalltown Speedway and
Independence Motor Speedway, drivers can earn a bonus of up to $90 each
week. Any driver able to capture heat races wins in consecutive nights at
each track, will earn a free pit pass for the following week at both tracks.
In addition to this, any driver finishing in the top four spots in the
feature events at both tracks on consecutive nights will earn a $50 cash
bonus.
With the addition of the IMCA Sport Compacts in 2012, promoter Kruse is
excited to announce a special program that will allow a lucky fan the
opportunity to drive a race car each Friday night during the 21 “Chase for
the Championship” nights. Fans will be able to register each Friday night, a
drawing will be held and the lucky fan drawn will compete the following
Friday night, driving the Marshalltown Speedway house car in the Sport
Compact class.
Also new for those of you who feel safer in the stands, a new smart phone
app will be available. The app will allow those smart phone users to
download lineups and receive immediate racing results for all of the events
at Marshalltown Speedway this season. Watch the Marshalltown Speedway
