County Speedway

MEMPHIS, MO (July 14) - One streak came to an end, while another was extended on
Primerose Realty and Kay Eggleston Bookkeeping Night at the Pepsi Scotland
County Speedway. Tony Fraise (USRA Modifieds) snapped Michael Long's winning
streak, while Wyatt Lantz (USRA B-Modifieds) added to his winning streak on
Saturday night. Also claiming wins was Zack VanderBeek (USRA Stock Cars), Jason
McDaniel (USRA Hobby Stocks), Brandon Symmonds (Outlaw Hobby Stocks) and CJ
Loring (Hornets).
The night started off with the 15 lap USRA Stock Car feature, with two and three
wide racing to excite the crowd. Michael Browning took advantage of his front
row start to grab the lead on the drop of the green flag, with Mark Holt close
behind in second. Browning, who was running the bottom of the speedway, and
Holt, who was up top, swapped the top spot on laps 2 and 3, as Holt led lap 2 by
inches and Browning coming back to lead lap 3 by a nose. As Browning and Holt
battled for the top spot, Zack VanderBeek, Colt Mather, who started twelfth, and
Matt Greiner were running two and three wide for third. VanderBeek would jump to
the outside of Browning on lap 10 to take over the top spot and then held off a
last lap charge from Mather to pick up his third win of the season at Memphis.
Greiner would finish in third, Kale Foster came home in fourth, with new comer
Butch Bailey rounding out the top five. VanderBeek and Browning claimed heat
race wins.
Up next was the 10 lap Hornet feature, with J.D. Murphy and Joe Gollaher drawing
the front row. Gollaher would jump out front on lap 1, with CJ Loring, Lew
Aikman and Luke Davidson close behind in second, third and fourth. Gollaher then
held the top spot until lap 8, when Aikman slipped by for the lead. But Aikman's
hopes for a win ended the next lap, as he pulled out with mechanical troubles,
giving the lead over to Loring. Loring then held off Gollaher over the final lap
to claim his first win of the season. Davidson came home in third, fourth went
to Andrew Hustead who started eleventh, with Jeremy Pundt coming home in fifth.
Heat race winners were Davidson and Aikman.
Steve Allen and Rusty Sands led the field to the drop of the green flag in the
15 lap USRA Hobby Stock feature, with Sands grabbing the lead on lap 1. Sands
would hold the top spot until lap 5, when Bill Gibson, who started sixth,
slipped under him for the lead. Gibson then tried to work to hold off the
challenges of Jason McDaniel and Mike Shelton, as the three drivers worked the
speedway in three different groves. McDaniel would jump to the outside of Gibson
to take the lead on lap 8, with Gibson running the middle and Shelton down low
the battle would be two and three wide until the checkered flag. McDaniel,
Gibson and Shelton came off of turn four for the checkers three wide, with
McDaniel edging out the win over Gibson by a nose, who beat Shelton for second
by inches. For McDaniel it was his fourteenth win of 2007 on July 14th and his
second of the weekend as he picked up the win Friday at Bloomfield. Steve Allen
held on to finish in fourth, with Sands coming from the rear after a spin to
finish in fifth. Allen and Gibson picked up the heat race wins.
The 15 lap USRA B-Modified feature had Jared Fuller and Brian Clark leading the
field to the drop of the green flag, with Fuller grabbing the lead on the drop
of the green flag. Fuller then held the top spot until lap 6, when Wyatt Lantz,
who started eighth, jumped to his outside to take over the lead. Lantz then held
off Adam Birck to claim his fourth win in a row at Memphis. Jeff Waterman would
come home in third, Jason Riegel was fourth, with Clark holding on to finish a
career best fifth. Fuller and Lantz took home the heat race wins.
Brandon Symmonds and Beau Taylor drew the front row for the 15 lap Outlaw Hobby
Stock feature, with Symmonds grabbing the lead on lap 1. Symmonds would lead all
15 laps and held off a last lap challenge from Jeff Soper, who started sixth, to
claim his fourth win of the season at the track. Taylor held on for third,
Rodger Dresden came from eighth to finish in fourth, with new comer Derek St.
Clair coming home in fifth. Heat race wins went to Symmonds and St. Clair.
The final feature of the night was the 18 lap USRA Modifieds, with Charles Baker
and Tony Fraise leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Fraise took
advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1, with Ryan Meyer
following him in second. While Fraise was out front, Zack VanderBeek, who
started eighth, Michael Long, who started tenth, and Martin Bennett were working
there way towards the front. But Fraise would lead all 18 laps to break Long's
five race winning streak to pick up his second win of the weekend, after
claiming the win on Friday at Bloomfield. VanderBeek would come home in second,
Long settled for third, Bennett was fourth, with Jody Wood rounding out the top
five. Long and VanderBeek took home the heat race wins.
The Pepsi Scotland County Speedway will be taking off the next two weeks to
prepare for the final month of racing, many exciting things will be announced in
the coming days. Racing will return on August 4th with the O'Reilly Auto Parts
United States Modified Touring Series invading the speedway, this will also be
the Ed Sheckler Memorial Race. Also in action will be the USRA Stock Cars, USRA
B-Modifieds, USRA Hobby Stocks, Outlaw Hobby Stocks, Hornets and the new Pro
Hornets.
