Scotland County Speedway to Hold Open Practice Day
by Brian NealMEMPHIS, MO (April 14) - The Scotland County Fairboard
decided to take over the weekly promotion of the Scotland County Speedway in
Memphis, MO for 2008. After months of planning and hard work from the race
committee the 2008 racing season is set to begin this Saturday, April 19th.
The speedway will be holding an open practice day this Saturday, April 19th,
weather permitting. All classes are welcome, including Late Models, Sprints,
Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 4-Cylinders and any other
classes, to come and test their cars before the season opener.
Pit gates will open at 12pm, with the practice set for 1-4pm. Pit passes
will be $10 and the grandstand is free.
Then the season is set to begin on Saturday, April 26th with J's Foods of
Memphis, MO sponsoring the opening night of racing. Racing action each week
will feature the Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and
4-Cylinders.
Alot of things have changed for 2008. Some include increased purses in all
five classes of cars competing on a weekly basis, lower grandstand admission
and no increase in the pit passes. Many things are being planned to attract
people out to the speedway to take in a night of racing, more details will
be released in the near future.
Pit gates on opening night, April 26th, will open at 4:30pm and the
grandstands at 5:00pm. The draw cut-off is set at 6:15pm, drivers meeting
will be at 6:30pm, with hot laps to follow and racing set to begin at
7:00pm. Grandstand admission will be adults $8, students (11-15) and seniors
(62+) $6 and kids 10 and under FREE!
