MAYBERRY TAKES FIRST EVER WIN AT MOUNTAIN-DEW
BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY
by: Tony Paris
Bloomfield, Ia. (May 11) - The Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints in
action for the first appearance at the Bloomfield Speedway with Chad
Huston of Jamesport, Mo. and Mike Mayberry of Fremont leading the
field to the green flag. Huston would set a blistering pace and
looked to have his first win of his carrier in hand.
The caution flag would fly for Rob Kubli of Milo crossing the 23k
up and closing the field back up for Mayberry to have a chance at
Huston. Huston would restart as the leaded but Mayberry would go
wheel-to-wheel in turns one and two with Mayberry making the pass on
lap thirteen and would the final three laps for his first ever win.
Huston would take the runner-up spot with Matt Stephenson and Josh
Padellford battling for the third spot with Stephenson coming from
the tenth spot after taking the Owl’s Nest Chance for $100 bonus if
he could win from the back. Stephenson passed on the white flag lap
for a third place finish and Padellford in fourth. Veteran racer Bob
Lamb of Mitchellville taking the fifth spot in the 47 machine.
The Lancaster Oil Company race to the finish went to Bob Lamb.
The First Choice reality mystery spot went to Mitchell Alexander of
Knoxville in eighth and Haines Auto Supply Hard Luck award went to
Louis Lynch of Glenwood, Mo. Who had drive line problems ending his
night.
