Foss and Waits back on top at the Creek
by Bill Nelson

SPRING VALLEY, MN (June 27) - On the initial start of the Jim's AutoCare WISSOTA Street Stock feature Cory Crapser jumped to the high side and made a charge to the front but after losing bite in four came down the track bringing out the caution and a complete restart.  On the restart Donny Ganz jumped out to the early lead with Danny Hanson in second and Troy Voth third.  Scott Olson jumped through a pack of cars and pulled under Voth to take over third on lap two.  With three completed Olson started to race with Hanson for the second spot as they sat on the leaders bumper.  On the next lap Hanson got a good run on the high side and moved past Ganz for the lead.  Voth and Crapser were now racing for the fourth spot as Crapser tried to work back up through the field.  With Hanson leading Olson worked past  Ganz for second .  With twelve laps to go Crapser now raced Ganz for third and two laps later took the spot.  Up front Olson was trying to get around Hanson for the lead but Hanson was running the slightly preferred line and was holding him at bay.  With eight to go Olson started to receive pressure from Crapser and moved low in an attempt to hold him off but Crapser moved up and took over the second spot.  Hanson stayed strong up front, Crapser was able to pull alongside a couple times in the remaining five laps but not able to complete the pass for the win.  Hanson took home his second straight win at the speedway with Crapser and Olson rounding out the top three.  Crapser and Olson took home heat race wins.

Ric Fynbo led out of two on the start of the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature with Albert Wytaske and Carter Brandt side by side for second.  Wytaske took control of second while Bryan Hernandez quickly moved into third.  With two laps completed Fynbo pushed up in four allowing Wytaske to take the lead and Hernandez into second.  Two laps later Hernandez moved under Wytaske to take the lead.  With twelve to go Troy Brand moved past Fynbo for third as a caution flew.  On the restart Dustin Scott found a line on the bottom and moved up from seventh to the second spot following Hernandez around the speedway.  Brandon Davis moved past Brand for the fourth spot with eight to go as he started working forward.  On the next lap Davis moved past Wytaske to take over the third as he looked to work on Scott for second.  While they battle for second AJ Wiste raced Wytaske for the fifth spot.  A restart with four to go saw Scott working Hernandez on the low side while Davis took to the high line to try and get around the lead duo.  With two to go Davis was credited with second and got alongside of Hernandez out of four as they powered under the white flag.  As they came to the checker Hernandez and Davis were in an almost dead heat with Hernandez taking the win by less than a foot, Davis second and Scott third.  Heat race winners were Brand, Jared Boumeester and Jerry Young

Harlan Morehart jumped out of his Midwest Modified and into his US Army WISSOTA Super Stock to pace the field to the green flag.  Morehart took his starting spot and quickly pulled away from the field.  Kevin Hager and Jeff Brauer raced for third behind Scott Rollinger in second.  Two laps later Cole Queensland moved up to make it a three car battle for third.  With four completed Queensland took over the third spot and started to race Rollinger for second.  Thirteen to go and Brauer sat comfortably in third as he followed Queensland past Rollinger.  Queensland quickly set sail for Morehart up front and with twelve to go took over the lead spot.  Two laps later Brauer moved under Morehart for second as the top two pulled steadily away from the field.  With six to go Gary Wiersgalla raced Rollinger for the fourth spot.  The two were racing hard and both moved past Morehart for third and fourth with Wiersgalla coming out on top of the race.  Queensland came home with the win, Brauer second and Wiersgalla third.  Rollinger and Kevin Hager took home heat wins.

Keith Foss took off like a rocket from his front row starting spot in the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model feature with Nick Herrick in second.  Jesse Redetzke ran low and pulled alongside of Herrick for second as a caution flew.  On the restart Redetzke took over second as Herrick and Lance Matthees raced for third.  Matthees took the spot and moved past Redetzke for third.  With twenty to go Jake Hartung raced Herrick for fourth and completed the pass four laps later.  Justin sass moved past Herrick to take over fifth as the caution flew again.  Hartung put pressure on Matthees for second on the restart as Redetzke slowed quickly and into the infield.  Foss cruised to the win with Matthees in second, Hartung in third.  Justin Sass and Mike Prochnow rounded out the top five.  Redetzke and Foss won heat races early in the night.

In the EZ Fabricating USRA Modified feature Nate Wasmund jumped out to the early lead with Ryan York and Brad Waits racing for second.  Steve Wetzstein sat in third waiting for his move.  A caution flew on lap three and after two failed restarts the action resumed.  Waits immediately put pressure on Wasmund up front and took the lead two laps later while Wetzstein moved up to race with Wasmund for second.  Wetzstein took second while Layne Meyer and Mick Glenn raced side by side for fifth.  Another caution bunched the field back up with seventeen to go, Waits led Meyer, York and Cummins were three wide for fourth with Cummins taking control a couple laps later.  With fourteen to go Cummins moved into third.  The top five held line for the remaining ten laps with Waits taking home the win followed by Wetzstein and Cummins.  Heat races were won by Wetzstein, York and Tom Paulson.

Earlier in the day on the Button Buck Speedway Nathan Bunne led wire to wire in the Junior division of the Pepsi slingshots followed by Jace Bunne and Dustin Sorensen.  Jace and Nathan each won heat race action. In the Pee-Wee division of the slingshots Jackson Hale took home the win.  Lucas Schott took home the win in the Regular Division of the Pepsi Slingshots leading wire to wire after early pressure from Cody Gardner.  Nathan Bunne methodically worked his way through the field to take home second with Jace Bunne and Dustin Sorensen following him closely across the line.
