Matthees and Mass Dominate at THE CREEK

SPRING VALLEY, MN (August 15) - Chuck Nerland pulled out to the early lead in the WISSOTA Street Stocks with Troy Voth moving into second. A tight pack of cars followed the leaders as Dan Bork, Dan Holland and Jimmy Patzner race three wide for fourth. Holland took fourth and started to pressure Fred Prudoehl for third Holland took third with thirteen to go as the race up front started to heat up. Voth moved low on Nerland and raced side by side for a lap until Voth took over the top spot. Danny Hanson worked into the top five and moved under Bork for fourth just as Holland slid up the track allowing both Hanson and Bork to advance another position. With nine to go Nerland moved back under Voth as the two raced side by side for the lead. Hanson now solidly in third watch the battle up front. Hanson made his move with four to go as he pulled alongside of Nerland for the second spot. Hanson cleared and moved into second but was unable to make a move on Voth as he held on for the win.

Jason Born and Jerry Young swapped lines in turns one and two and still powered out of two side by side for the lead on the opening lap of the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified race. Born was credited with lap one but Young gained the control of the race on lap two. With two and three wide racing behind him Bryan Hernandez moved into the third spot Jared Boumeester worked past Bob Bunne for the fourth spot with fourteen to go. Up front Hernandez worked past Born and started to put pressure on Young for the lead. Boumeester worked past Born on the next lap to take over third while Brandon Davis worked into the top five. With eight to go Davis moved under Born to take over fourth as Young continued to hold off the advances of Hernandez up front. With five to go as the leaders ran side by side again Davis started to pressure Boumeester for third. Hernandez made one last push into three on the last lap but was unable to make the pass on Young for the lead. Young took home the win with Hernandez in second and Davis third.

The US ARMY WISSOTA Super Stocks blasted out of turn two three wide for the lead as the crossed the line for the first lap a four car pileup saw the early leader Brent Dulas with some heavy damage. On the restart Kevin Hager took the lead as Dave Mass used the high line to move into second. With two laps completed Mass moved into the lead with Michael Hofer working on Hager for second. A second caution wave with seventeen to go and on the restart Mass led with Hofer in second and Jeff Brauer in third. A three wide battle for fourth between Hager, Dave Solum and Chris Groth was now happening as Brauer worked on Hofer for second. Brauer took second with thirteen to go. Solum took over fourth and now was feeling the pressure of Bob Fort who had worked into fifth. With ten to go Fort took over fourth. Mass was cruising up front and pulled out to a full straightaway lead before the checkers flew. Brauer and Hofer rounded out the top three.

James Weber moved out to the early lead in the DCS Pure Stocks with Ryan Henderson and Wayne Nelson battling for second. Henderson moved into second and with nine to go started to pressure Weber for the lead. Henderson took the lead with eight to go. With five to go Henderson pushed up the track allowing Weber to move back into the lead. With three to go Henderson spun trying to work back under Weber for the lead bringing out the caution. On the restart Henderson quickly worked into second and with two to go took the lead away from Weber. Weber pushed hard to catch the lead on the last lap and spun exiting turn four handing the second place to Nelson. Wayne Bellrichard finished third.

Nick Herrick jumped out to the early lead in the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model main event with Lance Matthees, Kelly Anderson and Justin Sass racing three wide for second. Matthees took over second and immediately challenged for the lead. With two completed Matthees took over the lead while Anderson and Sass still battled for third. Sass took over third while Keith Foss started to push Anderson hard for fourth. Chad Mahder, Mike Prochnow and Joe Ludemann were three wide for sixth as Matthees was quickly pulling away from the field up front. Prochnow took over sixth and started to pressure Foss for the fifth spot. The two crossed the line side by side with three to go with Prochnow gaining the advantage on the next lap. Matthees cruised up front and won by a half lap over Herrick in second.

The EZ Fabricating USRA Modifieds were up last and with a black slick track the Modifieds were going to put on a good show. Nate Wasmund, Jay Ihrke, Mike Sorensen and Ryan York came out of turn two four wide for the lead. As they sparked down the back straight a wreck in turn two negated their battle. On the restart Wasmund and Sorensen now battled for the lead. Sorensen took the lead as Jason Cummins moved around Wasmund for second on the second lap. York and Ihrke were still racing now for fourth as Todd Scharkey sat in sixth. With twenty one to go Cummins moved alongside of Sorensen for the lead. York started to work on Wasmund for the lead while Scharkey and Ihrke raced for fifth. With sixteen to go Scharkey moved into fourth as Cummins and Sorensen still raced side by side for the lead. Cummins took the lead with fourteen to go while Bob Timm, Jeff Schluetter, Ihrke and Bobby Swanson were in a tight pack for sixth. A caution with nine to go flew saw Cummins lead on the restart. Scharkey and Sorensen were side by side for second and Mark Noble and York racing for third. with four to go Scharkey and Sorensen were still racing for second as Cummins pulled out to a comfortable lead. Sorensen held onto the second spot as the checkers waved for Cummins.
