Saturday, Sept. 5, in the Baudoin Oil 50
SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Aug. 31, 2009) - The stars and cars of the WORLD Dirt
Racing League will be making their annual trip here to Deer Creek Speedway
on Saturday, Sept. 5, for an exciting 50-lap feature event, the Baudoin Oil
50.
"Deer Creek Speedway is a beautiful facility and has always been a great
supporter of the WDRL, and it's a pleasure to go there every year," said
WDRL's Jim Wilson. "The Queensland family and the staff of Deer Creek
Speedway always do a great job of hosting the race."
Wilson added: "The people in and around Spring Valley and Rochester have
always been strong supporters of the WDRL when we are in the area, with some
traveling several hundred miles to see the WDRL drivers. Now it's like
seeing old friends when we go there each year."
The WORLD Dirt Racing League, a Midwest-based dirt track touring series that
began in 2002, always draws a strong field of Super Late Models for this
race.
Drivers expected to compete are the defending WDRL champion and current
point leader, Iowa's Chad Simpson; one of the best chauffeurs out of Kansas
who is currently second in points, Al Purkey; eastern Iowa's Flying Eckrich
Brothers, Denny and Dave; the Wisconsin Gentleman, John Kaanta; plus Chris
Simpson, Eric Pember and Chad Mahder.
A few of the many other WDRL drivers expected are Gordie Seegart, Rob Moss,
Curt Martin, Jeremy Grady, Tim Isenberg, Andrew McKay and Matt Furman.
The series travelers will take on the talented local drivers like 2009 Deer
Creek Speedway track champion Keith Foss, Lance Mathees, Kelly Anderson, Joe
Ludeman, Jesse Redeske, Justin Sass and too many others to list.
Driver registration will begin at 2 p.m. on race day, Saturday, Sept. 5,
with practice at 4:45, group qualifying at 5 and racing action at 5:30.
"This promises to be a great show, said Wilson. "The winner's share of the
$25,000 purse will be $5,000, and the drivers will be battling to the
checkered flag in the Baudoin Oil 50 not only for the money but also the
glory of winning a WDRL race.
"Joining the WORLD Dirt Racing League will be the popular United States
Modified Touring Series, so the fans are in for a real treat this Saturday
night."
