Jason Keith Wins Sprint Feature at SFCR
By JEFF MILLS
FARMINGTON, Mo. (April 15, 2006) - Following a frustrating year, Jason Keith of
Fredericktown sailed to victory during the sprint car feature at the St.
Francois County Raceway Saturday night. Several times during the 2005 season it
appeared Keith had a feature win in his sights only to have something happen to
spoil the young racers victory. The 2006 season has started off much better as
he posted a heat race and trophy dash win last week before picking up his first
triple crown in a sprint car Saturday night (winning his heat, the trophy dash
and the feature).
Timmy Montgomery finished in second place (in the 01 car) with Joey Montgomery
third, Steve Short fourth and Nathan Higgins fifth. They were followed by Bob
Thoman, Keith Burch, Jason Hunt, Dustin Adams and Danny Long.
Keith won the first heat with Hunt second and Tommy Worley Jr. third. Joey
Montgomery won the second heat with Adams second and Short third. Keith won the
dash with Joey Montgomery second and Hunt third.
In the Modified class, Brent Thompson of Farmington picked up his first feature
win of the season with Kenny Kennedy of Farmington second, Kasey Burch of
Farmington third, Matt Eaton fourth and Tommy Worley Sr. fifth. They were
followed by Kasey Nations, Kenny Harris, Leo Kiefer, Danny Resinger and Jonathan
Self.
Thompson won the first heat race with Eaton second and Nations third. Jeremy
Greenwalt won the second heat with Kennedy second and Worley third. Burch won
the third heat with Resinger second and Harris third.
In the Pure Street feature, Mike Abney Jr. of Belgrade picked up his second
consecutive feature win at SFCR by holding off Rooster Griffin of Potosi for the
victory. Chris Boyd finished third with Josh DeSpain fourth and Bill Skaggs
fifth. They were followed by Mike Savage, Keith Cannon, Josh Skaggs, Derrick
Shipman and Brian Henson.
Boyd won the first heat with Griffin second and Savage third. Theran Pearl won
the second heat with Abney second and Brian McGee third.
In the 600cc Multi feature, Kara King held off her brother brother, Derek King,
to take the checkered flag. Joey Boyd finished third with Casey Barnhouse fourth
and Jimmy Stearns fifth. They were followed by Mark Shirshekan, Brad Greer, Matt
Dotson, Jason McBride and Jim Tickle.
Kara King won the first heat with Boyd second and Chilton third. Derek King won
the second heat with Barnhouse second and Greer third.
This Saturday night is Outlaw Bar and Grill Night at SFCR. Gates open at 4 p.m.
with racing at 7. For more information visit:
