SEDALIA, MO. (Aug 15, 2005) - The Missouri State Championships have long been
the close to the ten day Missouri State Fair and 2006 is no exception. On
Sunday, August 20, the roar from the fair will grow louder with the sound of
Modifieds, late models, and sprints cars dancing around the historic 1/2 mile in
Sedalia, MO.
"We're real excited to have the Missouri State Championships returning once
again in 2006," stated Competition Director Clint Brown. "Not only that, but we
feel fortunate that we've been able to put together with the always strong
Modifieds, O'Reilly MLRA Super Late Models, and O'Reilly WOW 360 Sprints at an
affordable cost to the race fan." That affordable cost is only $15.00 for adults
to see the three premier classes in Missouri.
The Modifieds and O'Reilly WOW Sprints return for the Missouri State
Championships with Justin Boney and Brian Brown looking to repeat their 2005
wins. The late models have been absent for three years and the O'Reilly MLRA has
not competed at the Missouri State Fair since 1999 when Al Purkey took home the
win. Look for overflowing fields in each class with race teams looking to take
home the coveted Missouri State Championship.
Boney will be looking to outgun such notables as Chad Lyle, brother Dustin
Boney, local hotshoe Jason Thompson, and fan favorite Howard Hall among others
who are expected to be competing in the tough modified division.
O'Reilly WOW drivers such as Randy Martin, Tracy Nichols, Jesse Hockett, Terry
Hinck and several others will be making their way into the track to knock Brown
from his throne in 2006.
The contingent of O'Reilly MLRA drivers including Al Purkey, Alan Vaughn, and
David Turner will be battling against local favorites including Jason Bodenhamer
and Chad Clark. Several traveling teams have expressed an interest in competing
as well including southern Missouri late model veteran Terry Phillips who is
always a threat when he pulls into the track.
Gates open for the 2006 Missouri State Championships at 5:30 pm with hot laps
set to take flight at 6:30 pm and heat races at 7:00 pm. Race teams will begin
filling the infield when the pit gates open at 3:00 pm with the driver's meeting
to be held at 6:00 pm.
Adult admission is only $15.00 with Seniors & Military $12.00. Kids 7-12 are
only $10.00 while those 6 and under are free. While ticket prices do not include
fair admission those gates will swing open at 6:00 pm with admission no longer
being charged.
Pit passes will be available for $25.00 and no additional entry fee or insurance
will be required in the modified and O'Reilly WOW Sprint divisions. The standard
O'Reilly MLRA entry fee will still apply paid directly to the sanctioning body.
