The Fredericktown Raceway has a new life and a new owner
By: Jeff Mills

FREDERICKTOWN, MO. (July 21, 2006) - The Fredericktown Raceway has a new life and a new owner. John “Curley” DeBold of Fredericktown recently purchased track and now has his eyes set on the 2007 racing season.

“We’re going to try and make it as nice as possible for all our racers and fans,” DeBold said. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, but it’s all going to be worth it.”
The track has been closed since early September of 2004 due to problems with a lease agreement between the previous track owner and operator.

There will be a lot of familiar names coming back to prepare both the track and the racing program for 2007.

Terry Flanagan, who managed the track and served as pit stewart for several years, will return as the track manager with DeBold.

“With Terry I know everything is going to run smoothly and I have a person in charge who deeply cares about the track, the racers and the fans,” DeBold said.
Arlin Keith of Fredericktown also returns to take care of track preparation.

“I’d be a fool not to take advantage of Arlin’s experience,” DeBold said. “Plus I’ve been hearing from a number of past employees who have offered to come back.”

The track will running the CARS Late Models, IMCA style Modifieds, Pure Streets and the RAMS Mini Stocks and DeBold also stated that there is a possibility of other classes such as a “B” Modified class also being a part of the weekly program.

The track will remain the same size and basic configuration (slightly more banking) as it was in the past, however improvements are already in the works for a better outer wall, a new track surface and a re-organized pit area.

“We will also be taking photos of the improvements to the track and putting them on our website,” DeBold said.

The Fredericktown Raceway opened at it’s current site during the 1950’s before closing in 1973. The track then reopened in 1996 before closing again in September of 2004.
